O.K. It really has been too long since my last post about the Mud Oven. I have not had much time to work on it but right now I am about were it was before the second tear down. My time has been occupied with life and a large volunteer project ( no, I am not in trouble with the law! ) which should wrap up in a few weeks. After that, I will be able to spend more time on the pizza oven and have some progress to put up on here. In the interim between the last post and this one, I have decided on a major change that will effect the design.
I am no longer doing a clay/earth oven.
There has been a considerable amount of time spent thinking about this change. One of the main reasons are that we plan to relocate sometime soon and I would rather have a brick dome because I think most potential home buyers wouldn’t want/get or understand a mud oven. The fact that I will be doing the oven work in the winter factored in and some of the finish work did too.
I will build a mud oven someday and in fact, I may experiment with one when the weather warms up. Hopefully, those that wanted to see a mud oven stick with me through this build too. I am still achieving some of my goals with this build and I think the finished product will be better than my original design.
So stay tuned for a new update on the oven in a few weeks or so. Until then, anybody have something they want to see in upcoming posts?
