The inside of my oven dome has a lot of messy mortar drippings/ridges now that I have removed the foam form. Should I leave them alone, or chisel them down? I am thinking that once I start using the oven the walls & dome will end up covered in a layer of soot & char that would keep these mortar drippings from falling. Not sure what to do, anything would be appreciated.
Don’t worry about hammering away everything because you could create a problem. Just rub the inside of the dome with the edge of a hammer or something to knock the loose stuff off. Then maybe do the same thing periodically after the oven cools down after firing. As long as your joints are full you don’t have to worry about a little mortar slop. Happy firing!
